For Brooding: Most standard large fowl chicks can be brooded together. Guinea keets, bantam chicks, and smaller ornamental breeds should be brooded separately due to their smaller size. Turkeys can be brooded with large fowl chicks, while waterfowl should always be brooded separately from other types of fowl.

For Adult Coop Life: Most large fowl chicken breeds can live together peacefully as adults. Bantams can sometimes be housed with large fowl chickens, but this depends on the dynamics of the flock, as larger birds may sometimes bully smaller ones. Guineas can live with chickens in a shared coop, but they are known to be more independent, territorial, and sometimes aggressive, especially in confined spaces. If keeping guineas with other birds, providing ample space and monitoring behavior is essential. Waterfowl and turkeys often do best in separate coops from chickens due to different space, dietary, and social needs.

Blue chickens do not breed true, therefore our blue to blue matings result in around 50% blue chicks, 25% black chicks, and 25% splash chicks. We will send as many blues as possible with your order, but you should also expect some black and splash chicks.

Our goal is to offer birds that closely match the American Poultry Association’s Standard of Excellence through meticulous grading and selection. While we hatch chicks from premium stock, it’s important to note that not every bird will meet the strict criteria for show quality. Many customers choose to order several birds of a breed and then select the finest specimen for exhibition. Every year, we’re delighted to hear from customers who celebrate their achievements in poultry shows!.

smaller orders of day-old poultry require additional handling, heat packs and care therefore a $25 Small Order Fee is charged for orders with fewer than 15 birds. To avoid this fee, add 15 or more birds to your cart.

We ship to the Contiguous United States. We can ship outside of the United States or to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Please keep in mind that the USPS tracking system is not a fully real-time update of the package’s location and is still in its early stages of development. If the tracking information indicates that the package hasn’t moved or seems delayed, there’s no need to worry. USPS tracking often projects delivery dates later than the actual arrival, as the system does not account for the priority treatment given to LIVE shipments. Rest assured, your shipment is being handled with care..
